Susie is an experienced Prison Governor, having joined HMPPS, the prison service for England and Wales, in September 2004. She arrived with her family in Jersey mid pandemic, in April 2021. We enjoyed a fascinating evening, learning about her time working in different prisons in the UK and how she is using that experience and knowledge from her research work, to improve La Moye.
Susie explained about the changes made to connect the prison to other departments in Government and to the culture of the island. She also talked about some of the changes, improved training and new initiatives which have been made, helping to ensure that La Moye is #releasingbetterneighbours, who are well prepared to settle in the community on their release and reduce the risk of them returning to prison. A lively Q&A session followed, before our members and guests enjoyed networking in the relaxed atmosphere at the Pavillion over drinks and sharing platters.
