What type of information does the Whiteley Association collect and process about members and membership applications?
- Name, address, email, and business details
- Your education and qualifications relevant to your application
- Dietary requirements for each event and will not retain this information once the event is concluded
How we get the information and why we have it.
All the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you via the membership application form or by email in relation to an event and dietary requirements.
If your application is declined and you wish to appeal this will be handled by the President of the Association. In the case of an appeal please write to the President within 7 days of your application being declined. The Coordinator and President will consider the appeal, reviewing your application prior to responding to you within 7 days of the receipt of the appeal.
If your application is declined, we will remove all your personal data held digitally To and/or shred any written material after the appeal is completed.
The Whiteley Association Executive Committee review all membership applications to the Association. Committee members do not retain any applicant details.
If you choose to leave the Association, we will delete your information within one month. During your membership, please advise us of any changes relevant to your membership so that we can maintain accurate records.

What we do with the information we have
We use the information that you have given us in order to send out information on meetings of the Association and events that we are holding as well as collecting membership dues.
Any information gathered relating to your guests at events or meetings is not retained by the Association.
To receive alerts to look at the bulletin board that is attached to the Whiteley Association website.
We share your name, email address and job role with other members by email only, for the purpose of Whiteley Association networking.
How we store your information
Your information is securely stored at High Banks, La Route du Petit Port, St. Brelade, JE3 8HH on a password protected computer and in locked filing cabinets
We keep your data for the duration of your membership. We will then dispose of your information by deleting it from the computer and/or shredding paper materials within one month of your leaving the Association.
Your data protection rights
Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, you have rights including:
Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us to another organisation.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have four weeks to respond to you.
