Our September Whiteley Association event took place on Friday 4th September at The Marquee in the Garden, Ommaroo Hotel, where 35 members and guests gathered for lunch and an insight into life on Jersey’s front line.
We were delighted to welcome fellow member Rhiannon Small, Head of Service at Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, who gave an insight into her role and the work of the service in protecting the Island. Rhiannon’s talk followed a live demonstration from Michelle and Maverick one of the service’s ex-sniffer dogs, giving members a close-up look at the skill and training behind the service’s detection work.
Rhiannon gave fascinating insight into the four roles for which she is responsible. Giving real life stories into how she and her teams are protecting the island’s borders.
Members then moved on to a buffet lunch, with time to network and catch up — always one of the best parts of these events.
